Don Shinn

Mr. Donald Lee Shinn, 64, of Galesburg, Illinois died Tuesday, November, 13, 2018 at 4:53 p.m. in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born January 18, 1954 in Galesburg the son of Floyd E. and Lelia (Asbury) Shinn. Donald married Charlene Wheeler in 1975 and she survives.

Donald is also survived by his four children, Donald (Starla) Shinn of Texas; Todd Shinn of Colorado; Jolene (Jeremy) Hadley of Colorado; and Jodi (Johnny) Rich of Texas, one brother, Chuck (Chris) Shinn of Galesburg, one sister, Nancy (Dale) Johnson of Galesburg, ten grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Eugene Shinn and one sister, Patty Lamb.

Donald was raised and educated in Galesburg, having graduated from Galesburg High School in 1973. After school he worked for a time at Maytag and then Dick Blick for 15 years. Donald was a big sports fan—he loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Bulls. His love for sports stayed local as he enjoyed rooting for the Galesburg Girls Basketball team as well. Donald was especially thankful for his landlord, Rebecca Sallee, and all that she has done to help him.

Visitation for Donald will be Monday, November 19, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg.
