Lawrence Martin Pierce, 70, of Galesburg, IL, died February 26, 2026 at Sharon Willows Healthcare in Peoria, IL. Larry was born November 15, 1955, the son of John Eugene and Barbara Joan Pierce.

Larry attended Galesburg High School, served in the U.S. Army, completing basic training at Fort Leonardwood before being assigned to Germany. He worked many years in Colorado in handyman services.

Larry married Cheryl Starnes in 1979, later divorcing in 1985. They had three children, Josh, Jade, and Jarrod.

Surviving are son Joshua (wife Sarahi) Pierce, of Omaha NE, and daughter Jade (husband Ben) Otten of Galesburg, IL. Larry is also survived by brother Donald (wife Janice) Lobb of Springfield, IL; sisters-in-law Janet Pierce and Patricia Pierce; grandchildren Devon Pierce, K-ci Pierce, Lillie Allen, Unique Reese, Mya Reese, Daiton Pierce, Jake Colwell, Tayler Colwell, Tyler Colwell, Gage Pierce; Aunt Anna Thurman (husband Max); cousins Ronda (Ronald) Spicher, Lisa (Dave) Munson, and Vicky Williams Neal; and nieces and nephews Andy Lobb, Max Lobb, Harry Lobb, Clayson Lobb, Jeffrey Pierce Jr., Johnny Pierce, Megan Pierce, and Samantha Pierce.

Preceding Larry in death were son Jarrod Pierce; parents, John and Barb Pierce; brothers Jeff, John (“Jay”), and Mark Pierce; maternal grandparents, Harry and Hazel Magee; paternal grandparents, G’pa John Pierce of Monmouth and Dorothy Quiggins (husband Mitch); Aunts Alice Williams and Judy Poplett, Uncle Ronnie Magee; and cousins, Rocky Quinn, Cory Poplett, and David Poplett,

Larry was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed listening to music, playing cards and board games, and liked race cars.

Larry’s family truly appreciated the comfort and care he received from Transitions Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
