Jena Duckwiler Roate

Jena L. Roate, of Galesburg, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at home.

Jena was born February 12, 1955, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Charles A. and Jane M. (Foster) Duckwiler. She attended Galesburg schools and graduated from G.H.S. in 1973. She married Chester O. Roate, Jr on July 5, 1984 in Galesburg.

Both Chester and Jena were employed at Brown Specialty until 1991. They worked as drivers for V. L. Watkins Trucking until retiring in 2009. Jena enjoyed china and oil painting, gardening, and various volunteer work.

Jena is survived by her husband of 40 years, Chester, her fur baby, Ozzie, her sister Lei (J.P.) Scarff, nieces Leicy N. Scarff and Angie Chivers and nephews Nicholas L. Johnson and Eric C. Duckwiler, and a number of great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jane Duckwiler, and a brother, Jeffrey L. (Donna) Duckwiler, all of Galesburg.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 2 - 4 p.m. at The Garden Room at the Kensington, 311 E. Simmons, Galesburg, IL.
