Steve Mixon

Steven R. "Big Mix" Mixon, 43, Galesburg, died Saturday May 9, 1998, in Cottage Hospital emergency room.

He was born Aug 16, 1954, in Galesburg, the son of Clister P and Geraldine Y. Stover Mixon Sr.  He married Rebecca Snyder on June 6, 1992, in Galesburg.

Suriving are his wife; two daughters, Holly Mixon, Galesburg, and Alyssa Mixon, at home; three brothers, Clister Mixon Jr, Karl Mixon and Gary Williams, all of Galesburg; one sister, Crystal Mixon of Galesburg; and his grandmother Vera Benjamin, Galesburg. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He lived most of his life in Galesburg.  He was graduated from Galesburg High School in 1973.  He attended Carl Sandburg College and Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa.

He was active in sports in high school and college.  He was a former assistance basketball coach at Carl Sandburg College, and played semi-professional football for the Quad Cities Mohawks.  He was a Little League baseball coach, and was a member of the Galesburg Linksters.

He was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church.  Burial at East Linwood Cemetery.
