Joseph Goodman

Mr. Joseph L. "B.J." Goodman, 59, Galesburg, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, in V.A. Pittsburgh Health Care System, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  
He was born July 13, 1955, in Galesburg, to Lindell and Ruth Paige Goodman Sr. He married Michelle C. Espinosa on June 18, 1981, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She survives.  
Also surviving are his parents, Lindell and Ruth Goodman of Galesburg; a son, Christopher-Michael Joseph Goodman (and Simeon Johnson) of Peoria; a daughter, Mika Danielle Goodman of Galesburg; four brothers, Lindell Jr. (and Shirley) Goodman of Oklahoma, Franklin (and Inger) Goodman of California, Claude (and Linda) Goodman of California, and David Goodman of Galesburg; four sisters, Mary Goodman of Galesburg, Gladys Goodman of Galesburg, Linda (and Jason) Smith of California, and Cynthia Taylor of California; two grandchildren, Maycee R. Goodman of Galesburg and Raheem Casey of Peoria; and a special aunt, Patricia A. (and Alfonso Sr.) Pugh of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. 
Joseph served in the U.S. Army for 15 years and achieved the rank of sergeant. He then was a correctional officer for Henry C. Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg for 16 years and retired in 2012. He was a Galesburg High School graduate.  
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Military rites will be conducted by the Army Reserve of Macomb and Henry C. Hill Correctional Center Honor Guard. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
