Brian Stegall

5/13/1955 - 3/5/2021

Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Brian Charles Stegall, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021. Complications from a health issue, not Covid, was the cause of his passing. He was born in Galesburg, Illinois, on May 13, 1955 to Rex and Vernis (Pratt) Stegall, who both preceded him in death.

Brian was a 1973 graduate of Galesburg Sr. High School and was very active in the music program. He was a drummer in the band and jazz ensemble and competed nationally with the school when they went to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1973. Brian went on to attend the University of Arizona in Tucson, and he was the youngest member to ever join the Tucson City Symphony Orchestra. He was a percussionist who loved music and especially jazz. He soon realized there was more of a future in finance and business, which became his major at the UofA. He worked diligently in his 38+ year career in equipment financing, earning many accolades along the way, and he was very proud he could provide for his family. Brian loved competition and never backed down, whether playing pool, ping pong, foosball, basketball, bowling, or horseshoes. His famous line was, "I squeaked it through," even if he clobbered his opponent. Brian was a one-of-a-kind individual who could annoy you, rile you, and make you laugh like no one else. He would tease you 'til you actually laughed at his antics in trying to get to you.

His biggest love though was for his wife, children, and dogs. Brian was extremely proud of his children's accomplishments from the day they took their first breath and would share stories that only he could tell. Since he grew up in the Midwest, they always teased him about his "corny" jokes. He was the life of the party and always loved to host get-togethers where everyone was invited. Each year, the family would have a 4th of July party that rivaled any public one. He would buy fireworks, and every niece and nephew was guaranteed a sparkler! He was adored not only by his family but by his children's friends and his many nieces and nephews, all over the country, who treasured him. He was known for his love of animals especially his Bassets, Sherlock, Holmes, and Roscoe, and his daughter's, Bruno. He leaves behind his trusty friends, Rusty and Bane. Brian leaves behind his loving wife Linda, daughters Kelsey and Vanessa, and son Trevor, as well as sisters Connie (Ken) Gallatin and Sonnie Samuels, all of Las Vegas. In addition, he leaves behind to all those who knew and loved him: the love of the sun, music, laughter, chicken pot pies, gardens, celebrations, dogs, and memories to treasure of the man who will never be replaced.

There is no funeral as he requested. Memorial donations can be made to Opportunity Village, Las Vegas, NV in Brian's daughter, Vanessa Stegall's, name. In the springtime, on an especially sunny and warm day, plant something in memory of Brian.
