Cheryl Meyer (Carlson)

3/24/1955 - 6/6/2021

Mrs. Cheryl Carlson (Meyer) loving wife and mother of two returned to her heavenly home on June 6, 2021.  Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her and ultimately gave her peace.

Cheryl was born on March 24, 1955 in Galesburg, Illinois to Charles and Margaret (Frutchey) Meyer.  She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1973.

On June 17, 1979 she married Lowell Carlson.  They made their home in Rio, Illinois where they raised two daughters.

She started her career as a Pharmacy Technician but ultimately loved being a stay-at-home mom and made that her full-time job.  Spending time with her husband was always heart-warming.  She was active in her daughters PTO and loved to help fundraise.  Her love of baking was known throughout the Rio and surrounding communities.  When she wasn’t baking, she enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and watching them compete in gymnastics, dance and softball.  Later in life she became more active in her Church community and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Lowell; daughters, Rhiannon (Chad) Goad of Bettendorf, Iowa; Linnea (Jason) McClintock of Strasburg, Colorado; six grandchildren, Hannah, Ellie, Caitlyn, Lilly, Kourtney and Kellen; three brothers, Charles, Tom and John.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Meyer; her sister, Peggy Johnston.

A visitation will be held 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday June 10, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel with a service immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community of Christ Church in Galesburg (405 N. Pleasant Ave., Galesburg IL 61401) or Beacon of Hope Hospice (102 E Main St, Galesburg, IL 61401) on the family’s behalf. The family is grateful for the condolences.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
